exhibit a :: Valentines Weekend [snow 35-]

exhibit b :: The following weekend[sunshine 60+]

Yes, that is Arabella swinging with me. She begged to get up there with me and when I got her up, she stayed, just like that, for about 15 minutes straight. Falling asleep as we swung in the sunshine.

One of my favorite features of Making it Lovely blog is her monthly style outfits she puts together. I have been doing the same thing via Polyvore for a while now, but I have had the urge to start posting some of my favorite looks on the blog.
Today I am lusting over 3 things: an $8.00 poncho, a pair of booties and a fabulous purse perfect for hoisting around my D80 and all my other worldly posseions.

The headband is a cheapy satin one from Target that I have. I like to use as many items that I already own as possible. It makes it more wearable, not fantasy.
A plain white tee from Forever 21.
This awesome $8.00 poncho from Heritage 1981!
A pair of extra skinny black jeans. Mine are Levi’s I picked up at a local TJ Maxx. The ones pictured are outrangesous expensive, but they look the closest to what mine actually look like.
A great bag on clearance. Can you say tax refund purchase?!
A sweet little bracelet from the Anna Sheffefield for Target line. I got mine on clearnce for only $9.98!
And finally a great everyday bootie that has enough of a heel for little ole (5ft) me but comfortable enough that I will wear them. I love heels but refuse to wear them in regular everyday life. I’m a ballet flat and boot girl.
The text is from a great graphic designer’s rules wall art. Just love it!
Hope you enjoyed my first style post. Hope to make this a regular thing!

Another one of my 28 things is to plant a garden this spring. I would LOVE to have fresh herbs at my finger tips. Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers. Yum.
I picked up a cute little green house at Lowe’s on a whim the other day and planted some Chives, Basil and Parsley. With a little love, I now have little baby sprouts!

The computer area is still a mess, but I couldn’t help but show you how much BETTER the Expedit bookshelves look! It’s perfect for the space! I mean literally, it fits within centimeters to the window! I also got around to trimming and finishing two of the larger windows in the office as well. They are not painted yet, but at least it doesn’t look like the contractors just left the house.

Wires are everywhere. One of our goals this year is to switch to Apple and purchase a new computer. I plan on making everything wireless, as much as possible when we do buy it. I can not stand all those wires hanging around, it’s just clutter and I hate clutter (though I’m good at making it!).

Here’s a good shot of the fabulous You+Me Poster from Nick Schmitz. You can still buy one here. It’s framed in an ikea Ribba frame.

[before]
I have this list of 28 things I want to do before I turn 28. Number one on the list is to donate my hair to Locks of Love. A great foundation that gives kids with long standing medical conditions wigs after they have lost their hair.
Honestly, it’s been on my “I want to do this list” for years now, but I just now got the courage up to do it. I made an appointment for Wednesday Feb 3rd at my salon. I was so excited and nervous that I couldn’t even sleep the night before!

[after]
I went the Katie Holmes short look with shorter than usual bangs. I look so cheesy in this photo! The sun was so harsh, I had to keep my eyes closed till I snapped the picture! Denise my hairstylist took off 11 inches! This is the shortest my hair has been since I was 4! It’s a weird feeling. My head feels lighter and it was strange washing it for the first time!
Anyone else out there given to Locks of Love? i have several students who have given to the cause as well. It’s really inspiring when you have 10-12 year olds donating their hair to help other children their age!

Yes. I am still craving a black room/space in my house. These photos don’t help in my urge to run and buy paint. like, now.

More than likely this is what Ill do. White with one dramatic wall. Lovely. What a bed, huh?

This room is so, bold, inky black. I love it, but don’t know that I can pull it off.

ahhh. Jenna Lyons. Perfection.

From Domino and Living Etc.

Jenna’s Son’s room. White + Black Walls AND THAT CEILING. Awesome.
Ryan Korban’s Kitchen. BM Chalkboard paint. Same thing Jenna used to paint her bedroom + son’s room.

Ashley Edwards office via Domino. Lovely + chic.
Ruthie Sommer’s closet (or rather her child’s closet). Dark doors + pink + pretty + organized.

Ryann Ford’s House. Grey + White trim. Rethinking my dark grey trim in the dining room at the moment…

Couldn’t resist. Love the dog. Love the white bowl + black seat.
